All those legends decided to be part of the platform because the need was there. How can the legends impact the society, impact the youth and give back also to society, as former football players?” posed VCWC founder Fred Siewe.

Siewe called on football fans to show up in large numbers for the tournament in Kigali and when the legends visit different African countries ahead of the main event.

Which football legends will come to Rwanda?

There will be pre-event legend visits to Tanzania and Uganda, where some of these former footballers will engage in community programmes such as coaching clinics.

“What we want is to amplify the voices of these legends across the continent,” betPawa chief commercial officer Ntoudi Mouyelo said.

He added:

“Supporting this event is a way to give back to the community that trusts our brand and is a way also to support the legends in their mission to create new legends across the continent. So let’s watch with excitement the likes of Ronaldinho, George Weah, Jay-Jay Okocha and all those other legends coming here.”

Great players set to grace the event include Patrick Mboma, Oliver Kahn, David Trezeguet, Bacary Sagna, Louis Saha, Andy Cole and Djibril Cissé, among others.
