A heartwarming photo of fallen major Benson Magondu has moved Kenyans after it surfaced online hours after his death in a chopper crash.

The major was among the senior officers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) who died alongside Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla on the afternoon of Thursday, April 18.

Family mourns Major Benson Magodu

His aunt, who mourned him in a moving post on Facebook, also shared the now widely-circulating selfie while paying a moving tribute to him.

In her Facebook post, Sasha Wamae said nothing will replace Benson as a dotting father and husband to his young family.

"It is extremely sorrowful that among the departed gallant soldiers is my nephew, Major George Benson Magondu. At just 29 years of age, your life has been cut short in the regrettable tragedy that has claimed the lives of Kenyan soil heroes," she said.

Nothing can replace you as a father to your young family, a son, a friend and a role model to many. May your Soul Rest in Peace!" she added.
