It was evident that the father was overwhelmed with emotion as he witnessed his son transition into a soldier.

The tears told a silent story of a pair who had endured untold struggle, expressing joy, pride, and relief at the son’s accomplishment.

It was more than just an image; it was a testament to the love and pride the elderly father held for his child.

Social media reactions

Kenyans shared the photo extensively, with many expressing admiration for the father’s show of emotion and the son’s dedication to service.

Winnie Blessings:

"They only understand the journey they've walked through together in struggles, mockery, disappointments, resilience and in the waiting."

Technology Crowd Hub:

As the new KDF graduates await their subsequent posting, the image of the duo weeping will forever remain a powerful reminder of the personal stories behind the men and women in uniform.

As for the father and his son, the emotional moment will last a lifetime.

In honour of CDF Ogolla

During the ceremony, emotions ran high as Ruto led the graduates in honouring the former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla.

The president mourned the late CDF, adding that his death left a void in the military rank and the nation.

He recalled how the late general carried his work with charisma and professionalism in representing the country's defence family.

Ruto noted that Ogolla's wise leadership skills and diligence at work will inspire the military in future generations.
