How did Evans Okoda die?

Evans Okoda suffered severe head injuries and lost his righthand fingers at the wrist.

Okoda, 35, was serving as a bodyguard for aspiring politician Philip Aroko when the tragic incident occurred.

"I had the privilege of visiting the family of the late Evans Okoda in Kabondo West Ward alongside my team. Okoda was not only a close personal friend but also an integral part of my security team. I would ensure those responsible for Okoda's untimely demise are brought to justice," he said.

Oyugis residents protest after Okoda's murder

In the quest for justice, many locals marched from Oyugis court to the town with cries in protest to demand justice for the deceased man.

They chanted his name and that of a well-known politician whom they blamed for the killing of his rival's bouncer.

In Oyugis town, the march stopped and Aroko promised them his unwavering commitment to seek justice for Kabondo West Ward and the deceased's family.

"I want to confirm to you that I cannot be a party to violence. We are unbwogable. This particular murder must be investigated to the core. I don't know what will happen if they escape with it. But as of now, we are working towards making plans to give him a befitting burial," he added.

Evans Okoda murder suspect detained for 7 days

Meanwhile, one of the suspects, Kasipul National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Kennedy Ogalo Osano was arrested and arraigned at the Oyugis Law Courts.

According to Citizen Digital, Rachuonyo South sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer David Kirui stated that Osano's phone call details were linked to the gruesome murder.

Oyugis Resident Magistrate Cynthia Cheruiyot ordered that he be detained for seven more days until May 14 to give room for more investigations.

KDF soldier allegedly kills man in Oyugis

In another story, a KDF officer was arrested over the murder of a man whom he accused of theft in their Oyugis home.

According to the video that went viral on social platforms, the officer in the company of his brother and another suspect, dragged the man to a secluded place where they tortured him before his death.

The deceased's wife revealed that the three suspects visited her home but did not show any sign of misunderstanding with her husband.
