Allan Ochieng, known as Hype Ballo, has indeed been charged with the murder of Felix Kelian Kintosi, a DCI officer attached to DCI Dagoretti.

The charge was made at the Kiambu High Court on Monday, April 22, and Ballo has denied all charges.

Hype Ballo to remain in detention

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), represented by Jenifer Ndeda, sought his detention pending a social inquiry report, which was granted by Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony.

This resulted in Ballo’s remand at Nairobi remand prison for an additional seven days.

It should be noted that the hype man was arrested alongside six others, including DJ Joe Mfalme, in connection with the murder of Kintosi.

The other 6 were later released and converted into prosecution witnesses.

The bail or bond application hearing for Ballo is scheduled for May 2, 2024.

What did cop’s family say about Hype Ballo’s charges?

The family of Kelian protested the decision, saying using DJ Joe Mfalme as a witness would impede justice.

The family disclosed that they spoke to Kelian before he died, and he explained to them what transpired on the night he was assaulted before being arrested.

They argued that more than one person assaulted the DCI detective.

What did Hype Ballo’s lawyer say?

Ballo’s lawyer was equally unimpressed by the DPP’s decision.

He claimed that there was a social media campaign to characterise Ballo as a bouncer to skew investigations.

The lawyer reiterated the family's concerns that they would not get justice.

What did Joe Mfalme say after his release?

In other news, Mfalme was spotted outside Kibera Law Courts.

The DJ excitedly chatted with family, friends and fans moments after he was set free.

He talked about his jail experience, revealing plans he had after returning home.
