While such an event would typically elicit empathy, surprisingly, a number of online users took to celebrating the building’s downfall, with some even mocking Juliani.

A few individuals rationalised their lack of sympathy by linking Juliani’s distress to his marriage to Lilian Ng’ang’a, the ex-partner of Alfred Mutua, the former governor of Machakos and current Tourism and Wildlife CS.

Juliani responds to hate

Juliani acknowledged the animosity directed at him and addressed it with grace.

The Utawala singer admitted that he finds amusement in the negative remarks, confessing that they often make him laugh.

He encouraged his detractors to find peace within themselves.

He wrote:

"Banter ni banter. I enjoy some of your creative comments about things happening to me, napasau mbaya nikizisoma. Keep it up. You make my day. Lakini most ni chuki tupu. Heal yourself, G.

Why was Juliani's building demolished?

The centre, which served as a vital hub for local youth and artists for over seven years, was brought down due to its proximity to the Dandora River.

It followed an order by the Ministry of Interior that all buildings near rivers be demolished.

The Dandora Hip Hop City team took to X to announce that it was facing demolition and asked for prayers.

The centre has been a sanctuary for young people seeking to express themselves through hip-hop, dance, and visual arts.
