Karen Nyamu's 'simplistic' view

During the same event, Nyamu became a trending topic on the X social network because of her sentiments about the Finance Bill 2024.

The bill is to be deliberated on in its first reading by the lawmakers in the National Assembly.

The lawmaker, who is sponsored to the Upper House by the UDA party, was put to task over the bill in its initial stages of becoming financial law.

The Exchequer has proposed a raft of taxes in the bill as the Kenya Kwanza government aims to raise more revenue for its budget in the 2024/25 fiscal year.

While the question was specific to her general position, the senator chose to address the taxation aspect, which has been a subject of discussion since the bill was released.

Nyamu took issue with the part of the citizenry that decried the new taxation proposed in the bill.

The senator concluded it was evil for one to be bothered by the taxes.
