On Friday, February 23, during Kiptum's burial ceremony, Asenath, the widow of Kiptum and a mother of two, moved thousands of mourners to tears as she eulogised her husband.

Asenath reminisced about the best moments spent with Kiptum, describing him as a great father to their two lovely kids.

"My dear love, I can't learn how to say goodbye to you with weak fingers and pain in my heart. It's unbelievable that today I have learned to stay with our kids without you coming home again. I've cried until no more. I will miss you the love of my life forever, until we meet again. But I promise to gather my strength for the sake of our children, I hope in the spirit world, you'll inspire me to stand as the pillar of our children, I promise to make them smile in your honour," she said.

The heartbroken widow was, at some point spotted in deep thought while holding hands with her daughter.

On April 12, a day before the Rotterdam Marathon, Kiptum's wife flew to the Netherlands and attended an event before the competition, which was slated for Sunday, April 14.

Asenath wore a blue trouser suit, a white top, sandals and cute earrings.

The mother of two looked simple and beautiful in cornrows and was at some point spotted enjoying a chat with two gentlemen at the event.
