Nairobi - The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the cancellation of all tenders that were previously advertised in the MyGov Newspaper in April 16, 2024.

This decision also affects all related subsequent notices, addendums, and clarifications regarding these tenders.

The announcement was made public through a tender notice issued by KURA's deputy director of supply chain management on behalf of the Director General.

"This is to bring to the attention of the general public cancellation of all the tenders that were advertised in MyGov Newspaper on 16th April, 2024 and the subsequent notice, addendums and clarifications," said KURA.

The notice did not specify the reasons behind the sudden cancellation of these tenders and urged stakeholders and prospective bidders to await further updates as KURA navigates through the changes.

Maintaining transparency and efficiency in the tender process is crucial to ensure public trust and fairness.

This cancellation could impact several ongoing and upcoming projects under KURA's jurisdiction, which is tasked with enhancing urban mobility through the development of accessible road networks in urban areas across Kenya.

How Kenyans reacted to KURA's notice

Seamless operations and increased urgency are particularly important during the current rainy season, as rains and floods have destroyed many roads and bridges in various urban centres in the country.

KURA warns against crossing flooded roads

Earlier on TUKO.co.ke, KURA warned motorists against attempting to cross flooded roads.

KURA partially closed roads in Nairobi and Kiambu counties, which had been rendered impassable by ongoing heavy rains.

Among the roads that had been closed was the busy Thika Superhighway at Kahawa Sukari section.
