The European Business University (EBU) of Luxembourg, in its bid to champion for women empowerment, has offered scholarships to several Afghan ladies.

Notably, the prestigious learning institution based in Wiltz City is headed by a Kenyan, James Mulli.

In an announcement seen by TUKO.co.ke, the institution, in partnership with FemTech, enrolled 113 young women from Afghanistan to take part in their online impact scholarship programme for hardship candidates.

The lucky selected Afghans will take courses in Gender Equality, Women and Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, among others.

Further, the institution's academic dean announced that after Afghanistan, they look forward to extending the online impact scholarship programme to young women in Palestine and Ukraine.

Notably, Afghanistan has experienced war for almost 20 years, which has disrupted various sectors, including education, and the scholarships will come in handy.

Also, learning for girls and young women in Afghanistan was disrupted by the Taliban’s interim government, which banned the aforementioned group from higher education.

Inside European Business University's scholarships

As earlier reported, students from humble backgrounds who have completed secondary school education have an opportunity to further their studies free of charge at EBU.

The institution offers scholarships to students in Asia, Latin America and Africa, primarily to Kenyan learners.

The university, which has over 10,000 students across the globe, focuses on business courses charging KSh 1.3 million for the whole programme but simultaneously offering scholarships to those who cannot afford the cost.

Conforming to its mission of sustaining a tradition of academic excellence and ensuring a world-class education, EBU offers multiple specialised online courses and campus-based lessons.

With most of its lessons being online, EBU requires less overhead costs, making it viable to give scholarships to needy students.

How EBU partnered with the University of Eldoret

Also, the University of Eldoret (UOE) and EBU extended their partnership to offer artificial intelligence courses.

The two tertiary learning institutions first signed a deal to team up on March 27, 2023 in a landmark public-private partnership in the education sector.

In the new development, UOE and EBU will offer 13-week AI integrated certificate courses in Hospitality, with programs such as Front Office Operations offered.

The two institutions will also offer AI-integrated certificate courses in Business with programs such as Women in Leadership, Business Management and Agile Software Methodologies.
