Kenyan Woman Praises Kindiki After Passports Came Out Within Days: "System Is Working"

A woman has expressed her delight after successfully obtaining passports for her two sons within four weeks without encountering challenges.

@WinnieKabintie shared her experience on TikTok, revealing that one passport was processed in two weeks, while the other faced a delay due to errors in the application form, extending the process by another two weeks.

She emphasised that she did not resort to bribery, despite allegations of widespread corruption within the immigration department.

"I want to confirm to you that the system works. We submitted applications and within two weeks, my first son's passport was out. The other was delayed because there was an error, a typo in the application form. I rectified it and within another two weeks, it was already processed as well.

How was @WinnieKabintie's experience during application process?

She clarified the presence of a designated children's section for passport applications, advising parents to take note to circumvent lengthy queues.

According to @WinnieKabintie, the application process was smooth overall, except for the long queues on the collection day.

She also recalled a positive experience in 2019 when she received her passport within three weeks during the government's initiative to replace old passports.

"In 2019, when the government was phasing out old passports, I submitted my passport application and within three weeks, it was out. I never bribed anyone," she added.

Praising Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, she affirmed her confidence in the system and encouraged fellow Kenyans to trust the process of obtaining essential travel documents.

"Good job Kithure Kindiki for the good work you have done in sanitising Nyayo House. I wish you well and trust the process. It is by testing the system and sticking to it and demanding accountability that we make things right," she advised.

Passport processing to take 3 days

Meanwhile, the immigration department announced that starting November 2024, Kenyans would receive their passports within three days.

Kindiki asserted that problems that have been causing delays in passport processing had been addressed.

In the same statement, the CS indicated that from May 1, passport processing would take a maximum of 21 days.
