Nairobi - A young man is basking in the glory of his talent after it brought him a handsome fortune.

Tevin Kiprotich Bett said his impeccable skills in drawing have opened doors for him to earn some money.

The young man, who claimed he started drawing when he was three years old, said he has grown in his skill.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the second-year Kenyatta University (KU) student recounted selling his artwork.

"My mum shares some of my drawings on her Facebook page, and one user bumped into them. She contacted my mother and asked if I was selling the drawings. They were staying abroad, the US, to be specific. I recalled raking up KSh 68,000 for the six medium-sized drawings," he happily said.

Bett, 19, said he inherited the drawing genes from his supportive mother, who has been a massive help to him.

The teenager noted his mother used to draw as well, and when she noted his interest in drawing, she nurtured her boy.

"My mother has helped and supported me since I was a kid. There have been challenging moments, but they are part of the process in this wonderful journey," he said.

Bett, who said he was also learning to paint and taking graphic design classes, said he loves to draw cartoons.

He mentioned his favourite is Ben 10, which he watched on television as a little boy.

"I want to be an all-round artist," Bett, who says he also gets clients who want portraits of themselves, proudly said.

Selling artwork during auction in UK

In another story, an artwork showing three funny creatures was sold for a whopping £31,750 (KSh 5.3 million) during an auction in the UK.

The artwork, 'The Three Yoruba Brothers,' was painted by Olaolu Akeredolu-Ale, also known as Olaolu Slawn.

The artwork auction at Sotheby’s in the UK sparked debate among social media users, with some expressing their disappointment in the sale.
