Kiambu Father Emotionally Remembers Son Who Died 3 Days Before He Turned One On His Birthday

Birthdays are marked with joy and celebration, but this is not the case for a man whose birthday is gloomy.

Vosty Aila, 29, has taken to social media to express his sorrow as he turns a year older and wiser.

The grieving father penned a heartbreaking message on his special day as he remembered his son.

"It is my birthday today, but I am not celebrating it as it has reminded me of my wounds. I have been through ups and downs, happiness and sorrow , but our God is always by my side. For the past seven months, I’ve gone through the hardest part of my life, which is losing what I loved most. Son, continue resting in peace. Dad is here to ensure that you are proud of us. We miss you, son," part of his post read.

The human rights defender said he did not like birthdays as they always remind him of his late son.

In his heart-wrenching post, the counsellor painfully disclosed his son died three days before he could celebrate his first birthday.

"The birthday thing always works as a trigger for your mum and me. I can attest that I have seen the importance of having great friends. I have also witnessed what enemies can do and the importance of having enemies in our lives.

"May our God protect us all as we age, fulfil our heart desires and give us strong and healthy kids," he added.

Why was Kiambu family referred to Thika?

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the grieving man opened up on what killed his bundle of joy.

"He was born with a condition which was cerebral palsy that was because of doctors’ negligence. We noticed things were not okay immediately after his birth. We managed it through treatment and physiotherapy to the extent that things were stabilizing.

"Then, on October 15, our boy got a fever, and we took him to a local hospital, where we were referred to Thika Level 5. Within eight hours, his situation worsened, and he was taken to the ICU, where he only stayed for 24 hours. We were told that he died of meningitis," he tearfully shared.
