Two people have been crashed to death in Kirinyaga

Tragedy has struck two families in Kirinyaga following the sudden loss of their loved ones in a devastating road accident.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 15, when a boda boda rider travelling from Samson Corner to Kutus collided with a tuk-tuk on a bustling highway.

The boda boda operator was transporting two passengers, a man and a woman when the collision occurred.

What led to boda boda, tuk-tuk collision?

According to Citizen Digital, Gichugu Sub-county Police Commander Johnson Wachira confirmed the unfortunate event, stating that the tuk-tuk's tyre burst, leading to the collision with the motorcycle before it swerved off the road.

Regrettably, the boda boda operator lost his life instantly, while one of his passengers, a woman, succumbed to the severe injuries she sustained.

The other passenger was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, a good Samaritan transported the tuk-tuk driver and his passenger to Kerugoya Hospital for medical attention.

Nakuru family loses 7 relatives in road accident

In another incident, a family in Nakuru lost seven relatives in a tragic road crash at Salama along the Nairobi-Nairobi Highway.

Six of the family members died on the spot while another minor who was receiving treatment at the Karen Hospital in the ICU unit succumbed to the injuries days later.

The family was travelling back from Easter Holiday in Mombasa when they met their untimely end.

According to an NTSA report, road carnages have claimed more than 1,100 lives since January 2024.
