Residents of Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, are reeling from shock after a boda boda rider was busted living with two female students who had gone missing.

How did the students end up at the rider's home?

The students, identified as sisters, reportedly vanished from their residence a month ago.

Upon discovering that the man was cohabitating with the students, angry residents gathered at his home, seeking explanations.

During an interview with NTV, Peter Bundi, the uncle of the students, mentioned that before their disappearance, the girls' father frequently argued with them over their habit of returning home late.

"I asked him why he was always scolding his children; he told me they always returned home quite late, from 7 pm to around 8 pm there. And he didn't want that," he said.

The girls were living under the care of their father before they eloped. The eldest girl was a form four student, while the other was a form three student.

The chief of the region, Ruth Nduru, emphasized the importance of parents fulfilling all their children's needs to prevent situations where they might seek companionship with older men.

"As mothers let us take care of our daughters. The father of these children might not understand all of his daughters' needs, causing them to go out to look for help from men," one resident said.

The suspect is currently being held at Kerugoya Police Station pending arraignment.

The government, on the other hand, is making plans to help the girls return to school.
