Kisii Family Unable To Bury Deceased Form 4 Son Over KSh 700k Hospital Bill: "It's Painful"

• The family of Mzee Thomas Ombati from Nyamache in Kisii recently lost their teenage son while undergoing a head operation
• As if the loss was not enough, they were slapped with a KSh 700,000 hospital bill that needs to be paid before the body is released for burial
• They have only managed KSh 85,000, leaving them in double pain as they are unable to raise the balance

It has been over one month since the family of Mzee Thomas Ombati from Nyamache in Kisii lost their teenage son.

Their grief has been compounded by the fact that they cannot bring their deceased son home for burial.

In a report by Citizen TV, the family disclosed that they were slapped with a bill of over KSh 700,000, a figure that is too steep for them.

For this reason, the youngster’s body is being held at the Tenwek Hospital Mortuary in Bomet County as the family struggles to raise funds to secure his release.

“We have tried requesting the hospital to give us the body but they’ve remained adamant that we have to clear the bill. It's painful,” the deceased boy’s brother Kizah Jackson lamented.

The Form 4 student at Borangi Secondary School died while undergoing an operation on the head for the 12th time.

According to the family, the late struggled with tuberculosis and a perennial spinal problem.

As of the time of filing this report, the family had raised KSh 85,000, which is not even half of the total bill.
