How to earn money on Facebook

Tech explorer and Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert Awa Penn shared tips on earning money on Facebook amid the scarcity of jobs in Kenya.

"Facebook is a money-making machine. Sadly, most people don't know how to make money here," Penn posted.

1. Facebook ads

Facebook explained that one can earn money by including advertisements alongside their content.

"There are ways to use ads while keeping your content front and centre, including adding in-stream ads to your live and on-demand videos and with Instant Articles. Check your eligibility for in-stream ads and submit your page for review," Facebook stated.

2. Facebook Marketplace

Through the Facebook Marketplace, you can sell items locally or nationally.

"You can use Marketplace to buy and sell items with people in your community on Facebook," the Meta owned platform noted.

3. Affiliate marketing

This allows one to promote products or services and earn a commission for every sale made through an affiliate link.

  • Step 1: Create a Facebook page or business page.
  • Step 2: Engage with your audience and promote your products.
  • Use Facebook ads.

4. Sponsored posts

Collaborate with companies to provide sponsored content on your Facebook profile or page.

The amount of income you will get will depend on your negotiation skills.

5. Facebook live

With Facebook, you can stream a live discussion, performance, or online paid event.

Facebook Stars allows users to buy, send, and receive stars during a live broadcast along with their comments.

Fans can publicly express their support for you and the community by purchasing Stars, which highlights their comments in the stream's comment box.

As few as 100 stars at $1.40 (KSh 183) or as many as 6,400 stars at $99.99 (KSh 13,098) might be sent by your audience. Facebook pays 1 cent dollar for each star you obtain.

6. Facebook groups

With Facebook groups, one can create and monetise exclusive communities or memberships.

Joining a group allows people to interact, discuss, and learn from others who share similar interests.

7. Facebook gaming

Stream gaming sessions allow users to earn money through donations, sponsorships, and Facebook Stars.

With Facebook Gameroom for Windows, users can play video games on their PCs without being interrupted by Facebook's newsfeed.

8. Sell digital products

In this case, you could create and sell digital products like ebooks, courses, or artwork directly on Facebook.

Facebook allows users to create a shop on their Facebook Page where they can list and sell products.

9. Crowdfunding

The platform can be used to promote crowdfunding campaigns for creative projects, charities and personal use causes.

10. Facebook Creator Studio

Users can utilise the platform to monetise their videos with ad breaks, brand collaborations, and fan subscriptions.

"Creator Studio lets creators and publishers manage posts, insights and messages from all of your Facebook Pages in one place," Facebook said.
