Narok - Sorrow and despair descended upon the Maasai Mara University fraternity after two students drowned in Narok county.

Reports seen by TUKO.co.ke show that the two students drowned in the Enkare River on Thursday, April 25.

How did two Maasai Mara University students drown

The two students, a male and a female, were on an adventure when the tragic incident happened.

Narok County Commissioner Kapkech Lotiatia and County Police Commander Riko Ngare are currently at the scene, leading the search for the bodies of the two students.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two second-year students attempted to cross a narrow bridge when they slipped and were swept away by the swift currents of the swollen river.

“They were two youths who were trying to cross to the other side but instead passed through an impassable section. There is a bridge, but it seems they became just curious to know the extent of the river’s overflow…one of them tripped, and as the partner was trying to help him, he fell, and they were swept away,” Loltiatia stated.

By the time of publishing this article, the bodies of the two students had not been found.

How Tiberious Mamwacha drowned

In related news, South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) was thrown into mourning following the tragic loss of a first-year student.

The first-year student lost his life following a drowning accident in the Mwita Syano River located at SEKU premises.

Tiberious Mamwacha, aged 20, was in the company of two others when they went swimming students on Friday swimming.

In a video seen by TUKO.co.ke, the three students were captured having fun as they swam in the flooded river.

The student filming others swimming could be heard encouraging others to continue swimming toward the river bank.

However, what started as innocent fun turned into a nightmare after Mwamwacha drowned as his colleagues watched helplessly.

After hours of search, local divers managed to retrieve Mwamwacha's body as the residents watched in disbelief.
