Kenyan international football star Michael Olunga is beaming with pride after running into a billboard dedicated to him on the streets of Doha.

The giant electronic billboard features his name and photo, towering above the road for motorists to see.

He shared the photo on his Facebook page, revelling in his rising fame and success.

The billboard features a larger-than-life image of Olunga, with his name emblazoned in white.

"Only one Ogada Olunga," he captioned the photo.

The billboard is not just a personal milestone for the Harambee Stars captain but also a symbol of the international bridges that sports can build.

Olunga was Qatar League's top scorer in 2021

Olunga, a key player at Al Duhail since joining the club during the 2020-2021 season, has quickly become a household name in Qatar.

The man nicknamed Engineer has built a reputation for netting crucial goals for his team to help them win different trophies.

He scored 24 goals and won the Mansour Muftah Award for Top Scorer in the 2021-2022 season, making him a darling of the club's fans.

Olunga is sixth among the top 2023-2024 QNB Stars League scorers with 15 goals.

Michael Olunga outscored Messi in 2023

Another proud moment for the prolific striker was in January when statistics showed he was among the world's top goal-scorers.

The Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) founder shared statistics showing that he beat Argentina's Lionel Messi in 2023.

Olunga scored 35 goals to finish the year as the world’s 22nd-highest scorer, compared to Messi, who netted 28 goals and ranked 52nd.

The list was topped by Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Pro League's Al Nassr, after he scored 54 goals.
