Citizen Digital reported that Anyango's relatives had gone to check on her when they stumbled upon her body lying in a pool of blood.

South West location chief Maurice Ayieko confirmed the incident and said the body had stab wounds around the neck.

Preliminary reports say the deceased was living alone at the time of the incident and police are probing the motive behind her murder.

Ayieko pleaded with the residents to keep calm as police tried to unravel the identity of the attackers.

The husband of the deceased left the house a few hours before the body was discovered.
