Saumu Mbuvi, the first daughter of former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, has shared that her wardrobe is exclusively composed of locally sourced attire from Toi and Gikomba markets.

This statement was in response to Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa’s proposal that the government levy higher taxes on artificial nails and high-end garments.

Should government increase tax on expensive clothes?

Speaking in Vihiga, Barasa expressed his desire for the government to impose increased taxes on individuals donning apparel valued over KSh 10,000 and women's products like nails.
