Nairobi: Confusion As Students Travelling For School Stuck After Learning Opening Dates Changed

Students en route to schools in Meru found themselves in precarious positions when they arrived in Nairobi only to realise that opening dates had been changed to May 6, 2024.

Students stuck in Nairobi city

According to a Facebook post shared by Marigiri, the students did not know that the dates had changed by the time they were arriving in Nairobi.

The photos in the post showed the students standing in town near Matatus not knowing whether to proceed with the journey or go back home.

Many who saw the post shared many hearts.

Politician Justina Wamae said:

"When I saw this important announcement way past midnight, I remembered there was a time we Kenyans were asked the three questions below; am I drunk, a fool, or on abused substance."

"I don't know what question or all of the above does the ineptitude of this administration answer," she added.

Kenyans slam education CS Ezekiel Machogu

Kenyans criticised the decision by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to postpone the opening of public schools.

On Monday, April 29, Machogu pushed the opening dates just a few hours before school opened because of the ongoing rains and floods that have claimed over 70 lives.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Education on Sunday, April 28, night, CS Ezekiel Machogu said the decision was arrived at after reports from field officers indicated many schools had been affected by floods.
