Businessman Mohamed K Ali defied countless odds to succeed.

As the founder of the Identity Auto Fabricators, Ali's narrative is not just about his unquenchable thirst for success but also his firm belief in the journey itself—a quality to be admired.

How did Mohamed K Ali rise?

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Ali opened up about his transformative odyssey from a street hawker to a thriving business mogul.

His entrepreneurial spirit first sparked in the bustling streets of Nyanza, where he began his hustle, blending and distributing juice to local eateries.

Ali accumulated enough capital through diligent savings to embark on a new venture—selling bespoke clothing.

Despite a brief raid into the world of acting and comedy during his university days, he found that this path wasn't his calling.

"Before acting, I blended and supplied Juice to some of the restaurants within one of the towns in Nyanza immediately after high school.I raised enough money to diversify the juice business and started selling clothes by order. I sold suits, and my main clients were bankers and their families and friends. Once I joined university, I had to look for other means of survival, and that is when acting and comedy kicked in. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful," Ali recounted.

Undeterred by the setbacks, Ali's entrepreneurial journey continued.

After dabbling in real estate and encountering challenges, he shifted this time towards the enticing realm of ice cream and shawarma in the vibrant Eastleigh neighbourhood and, eventually, towards the automotive industry.

"While still in university, I tried real estate, and it failed after I had paid rent and other bills for one and a half years without making a single income from the real estate business. I started selling Ice Cream and Shawarma in Eastleigh, which worked for me before I started selling vehicles," he explained.

Starting business during pandemic

Today, Ali stands proudly at the helm of Identity Auto Fabricators, a testament to his unwavering resolve.

His company's inception coincided with the tumultuous times of COVID-19, a period marked by initial losses.

Yet, through sheer perseverance, Ali and his company emerged victorious.

"I started this company during the COVID-19 era, and for about 6-9 months, we were making losses, but I never gave up and pushed on because the vision was so clear for me," he said.

How did Brechy's Kitchen owner succeed?

In 2023, another successful businesswoman wowed netizens after opening up about her humble beginnings.

Brechy Kiki, who runs Brechy's Kitchen catering, narrated that she quit a stable job to pursue her passion for catering right from her house.

Kiki said via Facebook that she began her catering business on the third floor of her residence in Kawangware.

It now boasts multiple halls and kitchens managed by a head chef.
