Nairobi - A hopeless and helpless man is seeking financial help to retrieve his sibling's body from the morgue.

Maurice Musomi said he was the brother of the late Florence Musomi, who passed away in hospital.

The mother of one had been hospitalised as she received treatment after both her kidneys failed because of high blood pressure.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Maurice said his sister's health began deteriorating after her strained relationship with her husband.

"It was a toxic relationship, and Florence never opened up about the challenges and what she was going through. As a result, the strain took a toll on her health, and that was how she got high blood pressure and affected her kidneys," he explained.

Florence Musomi deserted by lover

Maurice said his sister's lover also walked away from her following the chronic sickness that she experienced.

He lost hope in the lady, and after being overwhelmed with the responsibilities that kept bombarding him from one side to another, he abandoned her alongside their child.

"Only me and my family have been caring for her until she passed away. The hospital stopped taking care of her because of the rising bills that we struggled to pay. I remember watching my sister die because I was in her room. She had no medical help," Maurice cried.

Nairobi man seeks KSh 1.7 million

The man from Nairobi said the family has tried to raise money to pay the bills and retrieve Florence's body from the morgue.

Their hospital bill currently stands at over KSh 1.7 million, which continues to rise as long as Florence's body is in the morgue.

"I have no idea where to start from. I am caring for her kid and other family members in my house. I feel I have lost hope," he added.

Kisii family unable to bury Form 4 son

Similarly, the family of Mzee Thomas Ombati from Nyamache in Kisii lost their teenage son while undergoing a head operation.

As if the loss was not enough, they were slapped with a KSh 700,000 hospital bill that needed to be paid before the body was released for burial.

They had only managed KSh 85,000, leaving them in double pain as they were unable to raise the balance.
