A quick tour of the area by YouTuber Gikuni showed the dire situation in the area, with tenants forced to work in water before accessing their houses on the upper floors.

According to a resident, a nearby river broke its banks following overnight rains and spilt into residential areas.

However, he claimed that some individuals might have blocked the river's path, causing the water to stagnate.

The police have also taken to assess the situation before coming up with a resolution on what to do next.

Nairobi residents to move to safer grounds

Kasarani Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Kamau Maina said the government was out to preserve human life.

Maina explained that they were working with the Kenya Red Cross in the operation, revealing that some residents were reluctant about moving to safer grounds.

"We are here to do an assessment of the disaster that has befallen our areas. Our mission is to see to it that we try to rescue as many people as possible. There are those who are reluctant moving from their house. Our clarion call to the people is that they move to safer grounds," he said.

Landlady behind Bradijon Mansion speaks

Earlier, Annie Lumbasi, the lady behind the palatial home on top of an apartment, said it took her KSh 4 million to build the home.

Lumbasi, who alternates between living in Kenya and the US, revealed she grew up in Zimmerman, and that is where the now famous house is located.

The married mother of four disclosed she always wanted a house, but she only had one plot.

The penthouse features four bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, a laundry room, and a pantry, among other amazing features.

It also boasts a panoramic view of famous neighbourhoods such as Githurai, Roysambu and Kahawa West.

Lumbasi maintained that the house is safe and has no cause for worry, adding that before she even considered starting it, she had researched extensively to determine its viability.
