Eldama Ravine - Six people have been confirmed dead following a horrible accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

On Monday, May 20, an accident involving a matatu and a trailer occurred at Mawe Tatu in Equator Mumberes.

Citizen Digital reported that the horrible crash happened in the Rapture area, about 15 kilometres east of the Timboroa police station.

How did the Eldama Ravine accident happen?

The accident occurred following a head-on collision between a Mercedes-Benz Actros trailer and a Toyota Hiace Matatu from the 3NT Sacco.

Preliminary investigations indicate the truck driver, who was headed to Nairobi, lost control and swerved into the opposite lane before colliding with the matatu, ferrying 16 passengers to Eldoret.

According to the police, six passengers in the matatu died on the spot, and an unknown number of others were seriously injured.

The injured were rushed to Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital for immediate treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the mortuary at Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital.

In other sad news, nine people died following a horrible accident involving a Nairobi-bound bus.

In the Saturday, May 18, accident, Naboka Sacco's 33-seater bus plunged into the Mbagathi River.

The bus driver, who is among the fatalities, is reported to have lost control and veered off the road.

According to a police report seen by TUKO.co.ke, the 10am accident happened close to Cooperative University, killing eight people on the spot.

The Kenya Red Cross Society led the rescue operations alongside well-wishers and county government emergency response teams.

They revealed that 13 survivors had been rushed to nearby health facilities for better medical care.
