When did June Moi die?

June was announced dead by the late Daniel Moi's family on Thursday, April 11, aged 60 years.

She succumbed to a bout of an undisclosed illness; she was the last-born daughter of the former president.

The family requested privacy from Kenyans as they mourned their loved one.

She was adopted by the late retired president at a young age.

June attended the Nairobi Primary School and later proceeded to Kenya High School for her A levels before moving to Canada to pursue her tertiary education.

Moi had seven biological children: Jennifer Chemutai Kositany, Doris Elizabeth Chepkorir, Jonathan Moi (now deceased), Raymond Moi, Philip Moi, John Mark Moi, and Gideon Moi.

President William Ruto was among the leaders commiserating with the family immediately after the sad news was broken.

Other deaths in Mzee Moi's family

June's death came four years after that of her family's patriarch.

Moi, who ruled Kenya for 24 years between 1978 and 2002, died on February 4, 2020, at the age of 95.

Prior to Moi's death, his son Jonathan, a renowned one-time safari rally ace, died in April 2019.

The late former president's eldest child died in a Nakuru hospital.
