Their anguished mothers openly expressed their sorrow as they sought explanations regarding why their children were targeted despite purportedly not engaging in fishing.

“My son was sitting on the rocks outside. When he saw the officers shooting, he jumped and ran inside to me. Upon reaching the gate, he was shot,” Beatrice Achieng, mother to 15-year-old Barack Obama, narrated.

Faith Wambui, the mother of Sammy Njenga, asserted his innocence, stating that he couldn't have been fishing as he lacked the appropriate attire or equipment for such an activity.

Lilian Wanga, the mother of 17-year-old Obedi Luka, recounted discovering four young men lying on the ground.

Luka suffered a gunshot injury in his left thigh. His mother alleged that the officers encircled the vicinity in three land cruisers while firing live rounds. Bullet holes were evident on their gate.

What was the area MPs reaction to the incident?

Local Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Arama voiced his disappointment in the KWS officers for resorting to shooting teenagers instead of apprehending them and pressing charges against them.

They boys are presently hospitalized at Nakuru County Level 6 Hospital, awaiting surgery to extract the bullets as police investigate the situation.
