ODM MPs To Summon CSs Machogu, Mutua Over Irregular Distribution Of Employment Letters

• ODM party faulted Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and his Tourism counterpart Alfred Mutua over the irregular distribution of employment letters
• Their complaints emerged after employment letters from the two ministries were being circulated in Kisii county
• Earlier, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi of ODM had claimed people in Kisii were being given employment letters casually by CS Machogu

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has said it will launch a formal complaint against Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and his Tourism counterpart Alfred Mutua to explain on employment policy.

In a statement released Wednesday, May 8, by the party Secretary-General, Edwin Sifuna, they accused the two CSs of unbiased employment opportunities.

Their concerns came days after employment letters from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) were circulating in Kisii at funeral services.

ODM demanded an explanation of how Kenyans who did not vote for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will get government jobs.

"We will lodge formal complaints to the relevant authorities in the next few days. We have also asked members of our Parliamentary Group (PG) to summon the CS for Education and his Tourism and Wildlife counterpart Alfred Mutua to explain the hiring policy at TSC, KWS, and other government departments, and how Kenyans who are not UDA supporters can also access employment opportunities," Sifuna stated.

Nyamira man pleads with CS Machogu for employment

Allegations of irregular arise few days after a man in Nyamira kneeled before Machogu as he begged to be appointed by TSC.

In the video that went viral, the man interrupted Machogu's speech in a funeral and made his request known to the CS.

Machogu had given a letter of employment to a family member of the bereaved, as a sign of comfort and sympathy by the government.

Kenyans slam Nordin Haji over biased employment

In 2022, human rights activist, Charles Rubia, claimed there was discrimination and abuse of office in recruiting and employing members of staff in the Office of the DPP.

According to him, there was biased approval of staff with no criteria, and there have been disparities in promotion within.
