After days of silence, city politician James Wanjohi has finally addressed the swirling controversy about his alleged involvement in a job scandal.

The flamboyant business tycoon was linked to a scandal involving Worthstart Limited, a company he founded.

A statement sent to TUKO.co.ke explained that Wanjohi was on a business trip abroad and not on the run.

In the report, Wanjohi expressed shock at the recent news that has dominated headlines.

He categorically denied being a wanted man or receiving any summons from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Worthstart only does Visa facilitation

He claims to have learned about the investigation solely through select media outlets within the country.

Wanjohi clarified that the company’s commitment is not to secure employment directly; instead, it focuses on visa facilitation.

"It was clear as appended to the contracts by the 700 clients that it was only Visa facilitation which the decision lies solely with the embassies of respective countries," read part of the statement.

Wanjohi attributed the allegations to a combination of political vendetta and business rivalry.

Wanjohi promises to present himself to DCI

Despite having five directors, he emphasized that Worthstart Limited is a relatively young company, having existed for just one year.

Furthermore, he vehemently denied that the company was the source of his high-end vehicles, prominently featured on social media.

According to Wanjohi, he acquired these vehicles over two years ago and even used them during his campaign for the Roysambu parliamentary seat.

As soon as he returns to the country, Wanjohi pledged to make himself available to the DCI for questioning.

Wanjohi denies being a pastor

He also expressed confidence that the investigation would reveal the truth behind the allegations.

Wanjohi told TUKO.co.ke that his accusers have played into peoples' faiths, which is why they tied his name to the church.

"Wamedanganya watu mimi ni pastor na niliacha kuhubiri two years ago (They've lied to the public I am a pastor yet I stopped preaching two years ago)," he said.

Among the 4,000 victims is an elderly woman who took out a KSh 150,000 loan to help her orphaned grandchild emigrate to Canada through Worthstart.

The distressed woman lamented that the employees promised to call her but didn't, leaving her to service a loan that did not help her.
