The Rongo University fraternity is mourning the death of Baraza Benjamin, who was reported missing on May 7, 2024.

Baraza studied Human Resource Management

In a letter signed by the Dean of Students, identified as B Asugo, the institution said that Baraza's body was found in Ruaka on May 23, 2024.

The Chesamis School alumnus was a Third-Year student studying Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management in the School of Arts, Social Sciences and Business.

According to the letter, Baraza was the son of Dennis Kaunya and Lucy Oyakapel from Amagoro village in Busia county.

"The body is preserved at the City Mortuary in Nairobi. The burial date will be conveyed at a later date," read the letter.
"We convey our condolences to the family and friends following thos loss of a scholar," read another part.

In a post shared on Facebook, a young lady identified as Mary Susan PS alleged:

"He left the house, telling friends he was going to the M-Pesa to deposit cash. He had KSh 15000 with him."

According to the post, his trousers and crocs were found, but he remained missing. All his lines were also off.

Allegedly, the young man had deferred due to a lack of school fees and decided to go to the city to hustle so that he could pay his school fees.

Rongo University mourns Nana

In another story, sorrow engulfed Rongo University after a student identified as Annest Mong'are, aka Nana, died in an accident.

Nana was a First-Year student pursuing a degree in Kiswahili and Religion at the Migori-based institution.

After learning of Nana's death in Nyamira, students, friends and institutions took to their social media platforms to mourn her.
