Nyawira was among the 10 soldiers who perished in the chopper crash in West Pokot county alongside the CDF Francis Ogolla.

The other eight are Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu (Pilot), Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi and Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi.

How did KDF soldiers pay respects to Rose Nyawira?

She was laid to rest in Kirinyaga county, and soldiers gave her a befitting send-off when they carried her casket.

They posed and gave her a salute after placing her casket on a table. Her casket was covered with a Kenyan flag. They put a photo, a cap, and boots on her casket.

Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, her deputy Peter Githanda Kirinyaga, MP Gachoki Gitari and Kenya Seed Company chairperson Wangui Ngirici were also in attendance.

Family members of the late Nyawira gave their glowing tributes during the burial. They termed her a loving person, and she left behind a young son, Ethan Wachira.

In a previous interview, Peter Wachira Kariuki, the father of the soldier, said he had spoken to his daughter a few days before her death.

The heartbroken and grieving father said he last spoke to his late daughter on Sunday, April 14, before seeing her off.

Nyawira's shattered brother, Martin Kinyua, said he was in disbelief at the news that his sister was no more, saying she had a bright future ahead.
