Siaya - A family in Bondo is mourning the sudden death of their son after their semi-permanent house collapsed.

In the Thursday, May 9 incident, the two-year-old boy's mother and three siblings sustained severe injuries.

According to a report by Citizen Digital, Paul Scoll Omondi, the deceased, alongside his 35-year-old mother Lilian Aoko, siblings Clinton Okoth, Michael Omondi and Fransisca Atieno were asleep when the house collapsed.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said David Ochieng, a local boda boda rider, reported the case to Bondo Police Station.

Kimaiyo pointed out that the young boy, Scoll, died on the spot due to the impact when the walls caved in.

How did Siaya family's house collapse

The police boss revealed that police officers at the scene established that the mud walls of the house gave away after soaking a lot of water due to the ongoing rains.

Kimaiyo explained that Lilian and her three children, Clinton, Michael and Fransisca, were rushed to Bondo Sub-County Hospital for medical care.

He added that the body of the child was taken to the Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Tenants in the neighbouring houses have also been advised as a precaution to seek alternative shelter amidst the rains.
