Siaya - Residents of Pap Yamo village in West Alego are coming to terms with the sudden death of a 46-year-old man.

The police have since launched an investigation into the man's tragic end after his lifeless body was discovered in his bedroom.

According to Citizen Digital, the man identified as Pascal Okoth Akelo's lifeless body was found by his relatives.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said Komenya sub-location Elizabeth Awino reported the to Mwer Police Patrol Base.

Kimaiyo revealed the officers responded to the report and visited the scene, where they found the deceased had harmed himself using a leso.

Why did Akelo harm himself

The police boss revealed their preliminary investigations had established this was not the first time Akelo had tried to harm himself.

Kimaiyo disclosed that the middle-aged man made an unsuccessful attempt at harming himself by jumping from a three-story building in Nairobi.

He stated that the deceased had not left any note behind, adding that it was still difficult to know why he decided to harm himself.

Kimaiyo added that the police processed the scene before Akelo's body was moved to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary ahead of an autopsy.

Student found dead in washroom

Elsewhere, a promising fourth-year Mathematics and Computer Science student at Multimedia University was found dead in the hostel washrooms.

The student reportedly refused to join friends for a night out and sent a concerning text message late at night.

His body was taken to City Mortuary, waiting for postmortem as the police opened an investigation into the sudden death.

Multimedia University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Paul Mbatia expressed condolences and led a prayer session.
