Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo has resigned as head of the Men’s Conference, effective immediately.

Letoo married Irene Renoi, his long-term companion, in a grand event on April 20 at Narok County’s Ole Ntimama Stadium.

Contrary to his playful online claims of a grand wedding involving multiple brides, the ceremony featured only his partner, leading to some disappointment among Men Conference's supporters due to his vocal support for polygamy.

Why did Stephen Letoo resign?

The media personality, who interrupted his vacation in Zanzibar to return to Kenya, expressed that after a period of reflection, he chose to resign from his position at the Men’s Conference.

"After soul-searching, I have arrived at a decision to step down as chairman of the Men's Conference. I have tendered my resignation to the office of the Men's Conference based in Nairobi, and I will cease being the chairman with immediate effect,” Letoo said in a trending video.

He concluded by saying that the decision was made after extensive discussions with colleagues and supporters in Kenya and internationally.

“I will allow my members to seek my replacement, and I want to assure them that I will be available for consultations and any advice if they seek it,” he said.

Is Men's Conference a reality?

Men’s Conference started as an online joke, and was initially a fictional event that men claimed to attend to avoid spending time with their partners on Valentine’s Day.

In February, Letoo unveiled the program for the 2024 men's conference program and later hosted the event.

On Sunday, April 28, Letoo shared photos of him enjoying his honeymoon with his wife.

Letoo's jersey had the number 27 at the back, bearing the name Chairman, while Renoi's had the number 28, reading Mrs Chairman.

The lovebirds posed for photos at a luxurious hotel while strolling around the property.
