Nairobi - Nyandarua senator John Methu has fired back at Governor Johnson Sakaja for abusing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The senator wondered why Sakaja was finding time to criticise the deputy president when the county health system was in such a sorry state.

Methu claimed many mothers had been detained at Mama Lucy Hospital because of the inefficiency of the governor.

"Sad again that mothers have been detained at Mama Lucy Hospital, we see the governor walk with flamboyance. We saw him yesterday donning yellow, abusing people left, right, and centre. Disrespecting the deputy president. You would imagine that the health system is working, but what we are seeing is innocent mothers staying in hospitals," Methu said.

What John Methu said about Sakaja's degree

At some point, the Nyandarua senator expressed his reservation over the legitimacy of Sakaja's degree.

In an indirect attack on the governor, Methu said people can easily get degree certificates, but if it's not genuine, it will be seen through their actions.

He said what is being witnessed in Nairobi is the lack of knowledge by those in leadership to impact the welfare of the Nairobians.

"The people who got a degree for the governor of Nairobi forgot that getting a paper is not sufficient to get an impacting knowledge on the person. A paper cannot measure up; you could walk around with a degree, but if you do not have the knowledge, it will be seen, and that is what we are seeing now," the senator added.

Why did Sakaja criticise Rigathi Gachagua?

Methu's remarks come a day after Sakaja called out Gachagua for trying to intimidate him.

During a meeting on Wednesday, May 29, with Nairobi United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party delegates, Sakaja stated he would not be cowed.

The county boss stated that nobody could claim to have handed him the governor's seat apart from Nairobi residents and God.

Sakaja stated that it was ironic for the DP to lament about being undermined by a section of leaders, yet he had been doing the same for the last two years.
