Five police officers and four teachers were involved in an accident when the police vehicle they were traveling in was involved in an accident in Mandera county.

How did Mandera accident occur?

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, June 6, around 4:00 p.m., when a vehicle from the Border Police Unit (BPU) in Choroqo was traveling from Banisa toward the Guba area within the county.

Witnesses speaking to TV47 stated that the vehicle struck a pothole while navigating the roads, resulting in the bursting of both the right front and rear tires.

This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and rolled several times.

The police officers and teachers sustained serious injuries due to the impact of the accident. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

The injured passengers were transported to Banisa Sub-County Hospital for medical attention, while the vehicle wreckage was taken to Banisa police station.

Nairobi police officer dies in a road crash

Earlier on April 14, the police fraternity mourned the death of a DCI officer stationed at Gigiri Police Station.

Constable Shadrack Otieno Genga tragically died while driving his Subaru Legacy toward Mlolongo on Uhuru Highway at Lusaka Roundabout.

According to the police report, the officer lost control of his vehicle, which veered off the road, leading to the unfortunate overturning of the car.

He was subsequently thrown into the tarmac road, where he sustained fatal head injuries.

Officers who arrived at the scene moved the deceased to Chiromo Mortuary, where a postmortem examination was to be conducted.

The number of road fatalities between January and March 2024 exceeded the 1,000 mark according to the NTSA report.

Police officer killed in Kericho accident

Elsewhere, a police officer attached to Fort Tenan Police Post in Kericho was tragically killed after a truck ran over him.

The officer was riding in the same direction as the truck along the Mwamba area in Turbo when the accident occurred.

The other four people who were injured in the same accident were taken to Eldoret Teaching and Referral Hospital.
