The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists' Union has been on strike for over 50 days, leading to a halt in operations at public health centres.

The medics went on strike following the announcement of a nationwide industrial action by the union's secretary general Davji Atellah.

Terms medic used to address government

In a recent development, a medic, alongside Atellah and other leaders, pledged to persist in advocating for the rights of healthcare workers until their demands are addressed.

"We want to say to you that our demands are not the jejune pronouncement of malcontents but are the scenic wagnon of legal terms of a healthcare ecosystem devoid of any pathological dysfunction. So we are fighting for you," said the health expert.

Using medical terms, he noted that the government is "afflicted by a peculiar form of fiscal schizophrenia".

"On the one hand, they are promoting the doctrine of penury and destitution mocking our doctor interns to exist to a budgetary shoestring thinner than a tri-comb while on the other hand, they are haemorrhaging the public purrs," he added.

The county boss, Glady Wanga, could not contain herself when the preacher mentioned some big terms.

On the other hand, President William Ruto, who seemed calm throughout the prayer session, left out a hearty Amen, followed by laughter when the pastor concluded.
