George Magondu, the pilot of the ill-fated chopper that crashed on April 18, killing 10 people on board with two surviving, is survived by a widow and three kids.

What type of man was pilot George Magondu?

Magondu's family members described him as a humble, selfless and ambitious young man.

Speaking to Citizen TV, the pilot's mother, Mary Wambui, recounted how they learned of the crash through Magondu's wife, Brenda Okello, who is also a captain in the military.

Magondu was rescued from the wreckage after the crash and succumbed to injuries.

"The gap is big because George was a family man. At 29, he acted like a 40-year-old father. He loved the family, the kids, and his spouse. He could sacrifice all his time and money to keep the children well," Wambui said.

According to Magondu's mother-in-law, Maureen Akinyi, his children, grappling with the loss of their father, kept asking for him since the tragic incident.

Kenyans console with George Magondu's wife

A video of Brenda sitting in a chair at her home staring at her husband's portrait, has moved Kenyans to tears.

In the video, the military officer looked deep in thought as she stared at her 29-year-old partner's photo. Video below

Magondu and Brenda were happily married and blessed with three children.

Brenda shared videos of the family while reminiscing about the good times they had shared together.

"I am in denial. Jesus, what did the plane do to you?" she captioned one of the videos of Magondu talking on the phone while kids were playing in the background.

She added:

"Oh Lord my God! Rest in peace my husband. Our dad, our pilot."
