What Ruto said about Kenyan-owned fashion store in US

Gichuru and the entire Vivo Fashion team thrilled Ruto, who termed their vision as an African spirit.

The head of state noted that Vivo demonstrates the impact of visionary enterprise and highlights the role of women in leadership, business, and entrepreneurship.

"We are elated to see that Vivo has not ventured into the American market alone; it has brought along other ‘Made in Kenya’ brands. This is an African spirit where businesses find innovative ways to support each other in the global stage," said Ruto.

How Vivo Fashion started

Gichuru formed Vivo Fashion Active Wear under the Shop Zetu online store in 2020.

The marketplace deals in affordable and trendy fashion, footwear, beauty, and accessory brands.

It sells fashion wear for women, men, and children in Kenya, Africa, and now in the US.

In October 2023, the fashion store joined the Nairobi Security Exchange (NSE)-listed firms under the NSE Ibuka Programme.

This signalled the company's growth potential within the shortage period, since its inception.

Kenyan lady thrives in US hospitality business

In related news, TUKO.co.ke reported about a Kenyan lady who moved to the US for a nursing job as a caregiver and found fortune in the chapati business.

Doline Nyambati narrated how she relocated to America with her family after securing a caregiving job, which did not last.

Nyambati explained that she identified a gap in the US workforce, with many people busy working and limited time to cook.
