He encouraged the soldiers to emulate Ogolla and his fallen team as they embarked on their journey as commissioned officers.

Ogolla and nine other KDF officers perished in a chopper crash Thursday, April 18, on the border of the Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties.

The ill-fated Kenya Air Force Huey Helicopter was ferrying its occupants to the bandit-stricken north rift region on a working visit.

Ruto leads moment of silence for General Ogolla

On Wednesday, May 15, Ruto presided over the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) graduates pass-out parade at Moi Barracks in Eldoret.

During the ceremony, emotions ran high as Ruto led the graduates in honouring the former chief of Defence Forces.

Before beginning his speech, Ruto requested the new KDF officers to join him in a one-minute silence to honor CDF Ogolla and the other soldiers who died in a helicopter crash.

Starting his speech with emotion, Ruto remarked that it was both a happy and sad day, as the army welcomed diligent men while the nation was still in mourning.

Ruto praised the late CDF for his exemplary military leadership and professionalism throughout his career.

Probe into Ogolla's death

On Sunday, April 21, Ruto assured the public of a thorough government investigation into the incident.

He also reassured citizens that measures would be taken to prevent further assassinations and address concerns regarding safety, including incidents like those in the River Yala.
