Nairobi - Youngone Corporation, a global leader in the manufacture of outdoor and athletic clothing, textiles, footwear, and gear, has announced plans for a new venture in Kenya's Athi-River EPZ (Export Processing Zone).

According to a press release seen by TUKO.co.ke, Youngone is planning a substantial investment of $40 million (about KSh 5.3 billion) to establish a vertically integrated manufacturing factory in Kenya.

This new facility will handle everything from knitting to dyeing to the manufacturing of garments.

"Youngone Corporation is planning for its newest investment to be in Kenya, Athi-River EPZ. Bringing in its 50 years of expertise, with an initial investment amount of $40 Million, Youngone intends to start a vertically integrated manufacturing factory, from knitting to dyeing to manufacturing of garments, initially creating more than 2,500 job opportunities," read the press release in part.

Where are Youngone factories located?

Youngone currently employs nearly 100,000 workers worldwide, with production sites in Bangladesh, Vietnam, El Salvador, Uzbekistan, and Ethiopia.

The company boasts an impressive export volume of $3.5 billion (about KSh 469 billion) annually, primarily to U.S. and European markets.

In November 2023, the EPZ Authority in Kenya announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in which Youngone expressed interest in investing in Kenya.

The corporation has expressed its gratitude towards the Government of Kenya, acknowledging the support provided from the project's inception to date.

Multinational hotel opens branch in Nairobi
