2 killed, 11 injured in Mombasa accident

This follows a tragic accident in Jomvu, Mombasa county, where at least two people were reported dead.

A PSV was reported to have rammed into the rear of a boda boda, killing the rider and a pillion passenger on the spot.

Governor Abdulswamad Nassir observed that accidents were on the rise following the infrastructural development in the county.

While condoling with the bereaved, the county boss cautioned road users against sidelining the traffic safety measures.

Nassir pledged support to those injured and the bereaved families.

The accident came hours after another one in Kitui county, where six school-going children were killed.

Ithitha Deputy County Commissioner Vincent Loctary Lomachary confirmed the accident occurred at the Wiitu Shopping Centre on Friday, September 13.

Lomachary said the victims included three pupils from Kyaoni Primary School and three from Kyaoni Secondary.

Authorities reported that five of the victims were girls. The deputy county commissioner stated that the students were struck by a Probox vehicle while crossing the road at 6.20am.
