5 Killed, 9 Injured As Van Carrying Casual Workers Collides With Bus On Highway

Seoul - Some families in South Korea have been thrown into mourning following the tragic accident that left five people dead and nine others injured.

How Seoul accident occurred

Local media reports that a van carrying casual workers collided with a bus heading to South Korea's capital, Seoul.

According to police reports, three Chinese nationals are among the five people killed in the tragic accident.

Preliminary investigations indicate the van carrying day labourers collided with a bus at an intersection in Ansan, about 30 km south of the capital Seoul.

After the collision, the van bounced off and hit a passenger car waiting in the opposite lane.

Seven other casual workers in the van, including a driver, were injured, while two in the passenger car were wounded.

Police suspect the van driver overlooked the traffic signal at the intersection leading to the accident.

How many people died in the Murugusi accident?

Elsewhere, five people were confirmed dead following a tragic accident along the busy Eldoret-Malaba Highway.

The Sunday, August 25, morning accident involved an oil tanker, a tractor, and a Probox in the Murugusi area.

Lugari sub-county police commander Julius Meli confirmed that accident, saying two people survived the crash with serious injuries.

Meli said the oil tanker, which was travelling at a high speed, hit a tractor carrying hardcore building materials before ramming into an incoming Probox vehicle.

The oil tanker dragged the Probox for more than fifteen metres, and following the impact, five passengers in the Probox died on the spot.

Two others suffered serious injuries after they managed to jump out of the vehicle and have been rushed to Eldoret Hospital.
