A young woman identified as Becky has changed the face of her home after building her parents a beautiful home in Kamukuywa, Bungoma county.

Becky stops building house after frustrations from fundis

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Becky shared that the journey has not been easy, and she used many funds along the way, as many did not deliver.

"From February 2024, I did not even do anything with the house because I was just tired. I looked for another fundi in May, and he also ate my money...he was from far away and we met in a chama where we played with my colleagues from here (Saudi Arabia)," she said.

"He just took doors and windows with holes. I gave up for some time as I was frustrated but then took it up again because I understood that everything was on me," she added.

How much did Becky spend on the house?

In total, Becky bought 66 mabatis and spent KSh 82,000 on them. She said that she didn't build a permanent house because of lack of money, so the frame used in the house cost KSh 55,000.

The trees used to raise the building cost KSh 35,000, and mafuta came to KSh 36,000. Other building materials cost KSh 19000.

"The total for the house, including plastering and painting and furniture, cost me KSh 400,000," said Becky.

Becky shared that her life has been full of ups and downs, and she even made it through high school.

Becky hails her boss for holding her hand

"Never give up; a second chance can come your way, and you can change your story or your family's life. My aim was to help my child and change my family's story. I only wanted to buy my family's bedding and people used to laugh at us because we didn't have food," she narrated.

According to Becky, her boss has held her hand, and she prays for her as well.

"She tells me I don't want you to leave here empty-handed. I want to stay here until I start working on my own life," she said.
"To my colleagues here, deal with hardware people; don't deal with family members or other people directly. Now, my parents are respected at home; people used to laugh at us that we could not even afford food but now we are okay," she added.
