A video shared on TikTok shows when a car carrier caused traffic along Mombasa Road.

Why was car carrier stuck on Mombasa Road?

The trailer, seemingly carrying newly imported vehicles from the Mombasa port, stood in the middle of the road, unable to proceed.

The truck did not have enough clearance to pass under an overpass, forcing the driver to stop.

The clip showed several new cars stacked on each other, maximising the space. At the top were a Toyota Probox, Suzuki Swift, and Toyota Land Cruiser.

While the smaller vehicles easily cleared the overpass, the SUV could not. The driver could not reverse because he would go against the traffic flow.

A crowd of onlookers gathered above the overpass to witness the scenario as motorists moved around the stuck vehicle.

Francis Karanja, a car haulier, told TUKO.co.ke that it was a miscalculation by the logistics company.

"You need to plan your route and identifying possible obstacles that could possibly cause problems. To get out of the conundrum, they would have to unload the cars, inconveniencing other road users."

Kenyans tried offering solutions to the puzzle, writing:

Tovuty Technologies:

“I know someone cheaper.”

Alphatech Developers Kenya:

“The truck driver be like ‘boss hebu ingia online kidogo’.”

Zazen:

“The solution is simple. Reduce the tyre pressure to lower the truck.”

Vinns:

“Luckily, goods on transit are usually insured.”

East End Properties:

“That is why picking up your vehicle in Mombasa is always advisable.”

Joss:

“I would like to know how they got out of there.”

♋:

“The problem is the logistics manager. The driver of this carrier has no permission to divert the route.”

Who owns a Ferrari in Kenya?

In October 2023, footage posted on Twitter depicted two luxury vehicles in Kenya, a Porsche 991 GT3 and a Ferrari 458.

The two vehicles, costing KSh 24 million and KSh 40 million, were seen cruising along Limuru Road.

The Ferrari featured a powerful V8 engine accelerating it to 96km in 60 seconds.

However, the vehicles were not Kenyan-owned but shipped from Europe by OneLife Rally, a group of car enthusiasts touring the globe.
