Cleophas Malala Demands Cecily Mbarire, Ichung'wah To Resign From UDA: "No Moral Standing"

Former UDA secretary-general Cleophas Malala has called for the resignation of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and Embu governor Cecily Mbarire.

Malala accuses the pair of plotting his impeachment and immediate replacement by former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar.

Why Malala want Ichung'wah, Mbarire to resign

He alleges that Ichung’wah and Mbarire have harmful intentions towards the UDA party.

"I am demanding therefore that Mbarire and Kimani Ichung'wah step aside as UDA party officials because their actions and intentions clearly portray them as having ill motives against the UDA Party," he claimed.

"By the time I am done, Mbarire and Ichung'wah and their accomplices, who shall be known soon, will have no moral or political standing to hold any position whether at the party or in public service," he further asserted.

Malala has filed a petition to halt his removal process, seeking to prevent his replacement by the UDA Party and the Registrar of Political Parties until his substantive issues are thoroughly reviewed and resolved by the party's internal dispute resolution mechanisms.

Will Malala still vie for UDA's SG post?

Additionally, he stated that he would be seeking to retain the position of the SG of the party if elections are held to get a direct mandate from party members.

According to him, the decision would bar "early risers with an ill motive to never again contemplate meeting secretly at 5am to demean a ruling party by illegally removing a serving and deserving SG".

He further stated that he would be rallying the party members to amend their constitution.

In other news, the UDA Party has been involved in leadership wrangles causing division among President William Ruto and DP Rigathi Gachagua's allies.

Malala claimed that the Kikuyu MP and Embu governor are behind the impeachment push against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

According to him, the tuo are interested in taking over Gachagua's position in the Mt. Kenya region.
