A Dubai-based Kenyan mother, Comedian Chebet, recently expressed her deep gratitude on Facebook to a well-known midwife, Collins Kipchirchir, who played a pivotal role in her childbirth experience.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Chebet recounted the moments of fear and uncertainty when her baby, Imani, was born prematurely, weighing only 1kg and with underdeveloped lungs.

Chebet nearly lost hope when she saw her tiny, fragile newborn and feared for her baby's survival.

He confidently told her the baby would be fine after spending two months in the incubator.

Chebet shared:

"When Imani came to this world a premie at just 1kg (the lungs were not fully developed), I was so worried, and the only midwife I knew was Kipchirchir Collins, who had experience in this field. I remember asking him if the baby would survive. His answer was, 'You will be shocked. This baby will grow, and you will be surprised. She will just be in the incubator for 2 months and she will be fine.' I did not believe him though; I just accepted whatever will come, let it be."

Today, Imani is a healthy, vibrant child, and Chebet is filled with gratitude.

She shared a picture of her now-healthy daughter, thanking God for the miracle and expressing her appreciation for Kipchirchir's expertise and encouragement during such a challenging time.

"Today, our miracle is healthy, running around like any other baby, and I really thank God for this far," she wrote.

According to Kipchirchir, Chebet's tribute left him feeling truly humbled, as he told TUKO.co.ke.

He explained how having a premature baby in an incubator can be draining to parents.

"I'm so glad to get such feedback. Having a premature baby in an incubator is mentally draining. It is the scariest, most overwhelming and terrifying. Babies in Newborn Unit forget to breathe a times," he shared with TUKO.co.ke.

Why was South Sudanese midwife hailed?

In a separate story, Annet Monoji Juan, a compassionate midwife from South Sudan, received accolades for playing a pivotal role in ensuring the survival of Grace and her newborn twins.

The midwife had just arrived at the Maiwut Primary Health Care Centre when she noticed Grace's distressed appearance and evident discomfort.

It became apparent to her that Grace was oblivious to her ongoing labour and unaware that she was carrying twins, so she swung into action before it was too late and helped her deliver.
