After a frustrating draw against Zimbabwe in Uganda, they defeated Namibia in South Africa and face Cameroon in back-to-back matches in the October international break.

Former Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars midfielder has backed Kenya to produce positive performances in the two matches.

Kenya played its opening match against Zimbabwe at Namboole in Uganda because the country doesn't have stadiums that meet FIFA standards.

Zimbabwe held them to a goalless draw and later survived an onslaught against Namibia to win 2-1.

Engin Firat's side are top of Group J with four points, the same as Cameroon, meaning the stakes in the next two matches will be high.

Mieno backs Kenya to beat Cameroon

Speaking exclusively to TUKO, Mieno said Kenya must get at least four points from both games to retain the top spot.

"It's not an easy fixture. We're top of the group, so we have to try to stay on top by all means necessary. We have to win our home tie, and getting a point away from home is not a bad result. If we get a minimum of four points in both games, it will help us a lot."
"You set your tactics according to players available to you. It worked because every time the team counterattacked, we got many opportunities. At the end of the day we created chances and got the win."

Kenya are aiming for their first AFCON qualification since 2019. The top two teams from every group advance to the tournament in Morocco, per BBC.

Harambee Stars coach warns Cameroon

The Turk said Kenya is not an easy team to play against, highlighting past results against Ivory Coast and Russia.
