USA: A Delta Air Lines plane and an Endeavor Air Flight 5526 jet, both preparing for takeoff, collided at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

How did the Delta plane and jet collide?

The plane, en route to Tokyo, was taxiing when its wingtip struck the tail of the jet bound for Louisiana, causing the jet's tail to break off.

Officials told CNN News that, fortunately, there were no casualties from the incident.

The Delta Air Lines plane had 222 passengers on board, while the other plane was carrying journalists who were heading to cover a hurricane at the time of the incident.

Passengers reported hearing a loud impact and felt like the aircraft was experiencing a violent jolt.

Aviation experts say the incident was less severe than it could have been because both aircraft were moving at low speed.

Police Chief, Banker among 9 killed in helicopter crash

In a separate incident, details emerged regarding the identities of the passengers who perished in a military helicopter crash in Pasaquina district, El Salvador.

The military released a statement indicating Police Director Mauricia Arriaza was among the nine people who died in the Sunday, September 8 crash.

CBC News reported that Manuel Coto, a banker who had been arrested on charges of multi-million-dollar embezzlement, was also among the people killed.

Preliminary investigations show the police chief was escorting Coto when the helicopter went down in the Pasaquina district near the border with Honduras on Sunday evening.

Coto, who was accused of embezzling $35 million (KSh 3.5 billion), had been arrested earlier on Sunday in Honduras after attempting to flee to the United States.

The military reported that the crash resulted in the deaths of seven others, including three police officers, three servicemen, and a justice ministry employee.

President Nayib Bukele called for an investigation, saying the crash cannot remain a simple 'accident.'
